SPL205920_001 Sure, the guys from the Jersey Shore are super chummy, but that didn’t stop Mike from admitting that their new found fame has gotten to his pals!
While filming the third season of the Jersey Shore at Jenkinsons in Pt. Pleasant on Aug. 28, the cast was mobbed while people tried to snap photos and get near the reality stars — and although Mike ‘The Situation’ was super friendly chatting it up with fans, his co-stars, Vinny and Paulie D, couldn’t be bothered! While the duo kept to themselves, Mike admitted, “The fame got to their [Vinny and Paulie D's] heads.”

Although it seems like his pals are totally different now, Mike claims that he’s still the same! “Not me though,” he said. “I’m still a nice guy.”

While we love watching the ridiculous antics of the Shore cast, the behavior of Paulie D, and especially Vinny, is very surprising! We hope the duo can take a cue from Mike and are more gracious when they greet their fans next time!

SPL173313_075 Demi’s not dwelling on her relationship with serial dater Joe but IS coming clean about how painful their split was to handle!
Demi Lovato isn’t letting her breakup with Camp Rock 2 costar Joe Jonas get her down. The 18-year-old Disney star has already bounced back – and she actually credits her ability to recover to the depth of her heartache!

“When you’re hurt, it’s easy to move on, so it was very easy for me to move on,” she recently told Celebuzz.

After her two-month (and highly publicized relationship) with 21-year-old Joe – who has famously dated (and broken up with) country superstar Taylor Swift and actress Camilla Belle - came to an end in May,  Demi faced a LONG summer of touring with him and his band, the Jonas Brothers. We can’t help but wonder how she managed to maintain such a professional front AND deal with her pain – especially given that Joe’s new girlfriend, Ashley Greene, has joined her man on tour!   “Well, you have to, ‘cause you work with him,” she said staunchly of her Camp Rock 2 co-star.

Breaking up and moving on is never an easy thing to do, but with Demi’s schedule she doesn’t have much time to dwell on what went wrong. Between filming her hit Disney Show, Sonny With A Chance, and recording her third studio album, this Disney darling isn’t crying in to her pillow at night. In fact,  she says it’s best to “suck it up” when going through a rough break-up. Way to tough it out, girl!

Was3363249 We’re sincerely glad everyone at Discovery Communications is safe, because the guy who held hostages at the company’s HQ this afternoon had written some terrifying screeds against with Discovery’s biggest shows, including ‘Jon & Kate Plus 8′ and the Duggar family series.
James J. Lee, who was killed Sept. 1 after a four-hour standoff with cops, made some insane demands in a published manifesto — and they clearly seem to target some of Discovery’s most popular shows, including Jon & Kate Plus 8, 19 Kids and Counting, and a new show that TLC has ordered called Sextuplets.

Lee had posted a manifesto on his website, which crashed, to demand that Discovery and TLC stop airing all their shows about multiple births. TLC, of course, has had one of the biggest hits in all of cable TV with the saga of the Gosselin family, which comprised one set of twins and one set of sextuplets — the latter of which were produced by in vitro fertilization.

“All programs on Discovery Health-TLC must stop encouraging the birth of any more parasitic human infants and the false heroics behind those actions, ” read part of the screed. “In those programs’ places, programs encouraging human sterilization and infertility must be pushed. All former pro-birth programs must now push in the direction of stopping human birth, not encouraging it.”

s-STUDENT-LOAN-DEBT-CLOCK-large300 A new tool lets you watch the country's collected student debt pile up in real time.

Sponsored by FinAid.org, the Student Loan Debt Clock tallies an estimate of total private and federal outstanding student debt. According to FinAid, now is peak time for debt growth, as more student loans are doled out at the semester's start.

In June, a report from FastWeb.com revealed that, for the first time in history, total student loan debt exceeded credit card debt.

As the report's author (and FinAid and FastWeb publisher) Mark Kantrowitz discovered:

Student loan debt outstanding totaled at least $830 billion as of June 2010, with roughly $665 billion in federal education loans and $168 billion in private student loans. The President's FY2011 budget reports actual federal education loans totaling $605.648 billion as of FY2009. The first nine months of FY2010 involved approximately $59 billion in additional federal student loan debt.
The New York Times has more on how Kantrowitz calculated the debt clock's algorithm:

He started with the government figure for total federal and direct loans outstanding at the end of fiscal year 2009 of $605 billion. Then he estimated how much private loan debt was outstanding as of June 2010, and added an increment to account for the growth in federal loan debt from September 2009 to June 2010.

He came up with a starting figure of $830 billion in private and federal loans outstanding as of June 2010, which he further estimated was growing by about $2,854 a second.

s-CARLA-BRUNI-large300 TEHRAN, Iran — Iranian state media called France's first lady, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, a "prostitute" on Monday in an unusual attack on the wife of a world leader that shows deep anger over her support for an Iranian woman who faced death by stoning on an adultery conviction.

The wife of French President Nicolas Sarkozy has condemned the stoning sentence against Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani, which Iran temporarily suspended but did not throw out after an international outcry.

Ashtiani, a 43-year-old mother of two, could still face execution by stoning or hanging after a final review of her case, her lawyer, Javid Houtan Kian, told The Associated Press Monday.

The Kayhan newspaper, whose editor is a representative of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, described Bruni-Sarkozy as a "prostitute" on Saturday in an article headlined "French prostitutes enter the human rights uproar."

The state-owned news website inn.ir carried similar remarks on Monday.

"Although Bruni, the morally corrupt singer and actress of Italian (origin), was able to break the Sarkozy family and marry the French president, lately new reports have emerged about her affair with a singer," said the weekend report in Kayhan.

That appeared to be a reference to rumors of infidelity in her marriage that Bruni-Sarkozy dismissed in April as "insignificant." The rumors have since died down.

The French president's office declined Monday to comment on the remarks in Iranian media.

The media attack was in response to an open letter Bruni-Sarkozy wrote to Ashtiani that was printed in several French news outlets last week.

s-CHINA-JAPAN-WAGES-large300 BEIJING — Premier Wen Jiabao told a visiting Japanese delegation Sunday that Japanese companies operating in China should address workers' unhappiness over low wages that he says led to labor disputes this year.

Wen's comment comes after Japanese Foreign Miniter Katsuya Okada called for "transparent policies" governing workers in China, saying the labor disputes that halted work at dozens of factories were troubling to Japanese companies.

Okada brought up the issue at a high-level economic meeting between China and Japan – the world's second and third largest economies – held in Beijing to discuss ways to recover from the economic crisis and foster regional cooperation. Wen met the Japanese delegation on Sunday.

"Labor disputes are occuring at some foreign companies, where there is a problem of relatively low wages. We would like (Japan) to address this issue," Wen told Japanese officials, according to a news release by Japan's foreign ministry.

Okada said Saturday that the sides discussed ensuring transparent policies during talks on how to improve the business environment in China. "As to the recent frequent labor dispute issue, the Japanese side expressed willingness to further strengthen discussion."

The widespread strikes were rare for China but the government permitted them, apparently trying to put more money in workers' pockets as part of efforts to boost consumer spending.

The Chinese delegation at the meeting said the strikes were to be expected because wages had been frozen for two years to help companies ride out the economic crisis, Japan Foreign Ministry spokesman Satoru Sato told reporters at a briefing late Saturday.

The Japanese were "not so satisfied with this explanation, we still think this is very important to Japanese companies operating here," he said.

They also urged China to ease export controls on rare metals used in computers, hybrid electric cars and other high-tech products.

Premiere The Last Song LA Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus have called it quits! Liam’s rep confirmed the news to HollywoodLife.com August 24.

So what went wrong? Miley, 17, had frequently enthused about her hot relationship with Liam, the winner of HollywoodLife.com’s ‘Breakthrough Of The Year’ award. She told Teen Vogue that “I think we’re both deeper than normal people — what they think and they feel” and admitted to MTV News that “there are a lot of songs that are about Liam,” on her new album, Can’t Be Tamed. She even spent New Year’s with Liam and his family in Australia!

Could long distance have played a role in the split? It wouldn’t be surprising given that Miley has spent much of the summer in Detroit, Michigan shooting the coming-of-age flick LOL: Laughing Out Loud playing a teen who loses her virginity, smokes pot and kisses two girlfriends on the lips; Demi Moore plays her mom in the film.

Still, we’re not exactly surprised that these two are a done deal – Miley hasn’t always been very nice about her gorgeous and completely sweet BF! In fact, she’s been nasty about Liam’s fashion sense and has made no secret that she preferred Zac Efron in the looks department.

And apparently, the Hannah Montana star has already moved on! A fan reported that the actress was flirting like crazy with LOL co-star Douglas Booth – who just so happens to play her love interest – at restaurant The Lion’s Den in Waterford, Mich.

“[Miley] was ALL over the Douglas kid [on August 23],” fan Taylor tells OceanUp. “I wanted to ask her where Liam was but thought that would be a little rude lol.” After taking a photo with Miley, Taylor says, “Then [she] walked over to Douglas and was like and THIS is my love interest in the movie…lucky me right?! and she winked at him.”

Although HollywoodLife.com hears that Douglas has a long-time girlfriend and doesn’t reciprocate Miley’s interest, we all know that what Miley wants, Miley usually gets – and she tends to want her co-stars! So watch this space…

As for Liam, he’ll have time to get over his heartbreak while he films Arabian Nights with Anthony Hopkins this fall. Work is always a great distraction!

How do you feel girlfriends, are you disappointed they split? Tell us and click through pics of how they were!

s-MICHAEL-DOUGLAS-WALL-STREET-large300 NEW YORK — Michael Douglas' return to his Academy Award-winning "Wall Street" role also spawned a legal sequel to his decade-old divorce.

Lawyers representing the actor and ex-wife Diandra Douglas tangled in a New York court Tuesday over her claim that she's entitled to half his earnings from "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps," set to open Sept. 24.

The dispute has featured accusations of avarice on both sides and an unusually detailed look at Hollywood-style divorce.

The couple's 23-year marriage ended in 2000. He's now married to Oscar-winning actress Catherine Zeta-Jones.

The former couple's multimillion-dollar divorce gives Diandra Douglas the right to share in proceeds from spinoffs and other projects related to work Michael Douglas did while they were married.

That, her camp says, should include director Oliver Stone's "Wall Street" follow-up, in which Michael Douglas reprises and updates his Oscar-winning role as Gordon Gekko, the take-no-prisoners financier whose declaration that "greed is good" became either a slogan or an epithet for the 1980s, depending on one's perspective.

But Michael Douglas' lawyer says his ex is misinterpreting the agreement, and it doesn't apply to the "Wall Street" sequel. It wasn't on the horizon when the two split, and he didn't then have so much as a guarantee that he'd be in a sequel if one were ever made, said his lawyer, Marilyn B. Chinitz.

Since their divorce, Diandra Douglas has made $6.3 million from her stake in residual proceeds from other past projects, Chinitz said.

"When does it stop? ... She's not Mrs. Michael Douglas" anymore, Chinitz told a Manhattan judge Tuesday. "It's enough. It's time for Ms. Douglas to move on and let Mr. Douglas move on and enjoy his life, without having to concern himself with someone trying to claw back moneys that they're not entitled to."

s-CHINA-FAT-BABY-large300 A 10-month-old boy in China has been nicknamed the "Michelin Baby" after swiftly ballooning in weight.

Though Lei Lei was born at a normal 7 pounds 11 ounces, the portly toddler now tips the scales at a staggering 44 pounds -- roughly the same as an average 6-year-old, according to reports.

Mother Cheng Qingyu has described her son's appetite as ravenous. "No matter whatever he grabs, he unconsciously puts it in his mouth," she told the Daily Mail from a hospital in Yiyang, located in China's Hunan province, where Lei Lei is undergoing testing to determine if there is any medical explanation for his massive weight gain. "His most favorite thing is to eat."
